In the Chinese province of Zhejiang is an amazing thousand Islands Lake Qiandaohu. Its total area is 573 km², and on the surface is 1078 Islands of different size, which gave the lake its name.
In 1959, in the Chinese province of Zhejiang necessitated the construction of a hydroelectric station. To do this, on the Qiantang river was created by the dam. The seemingly simple technological process, taking place constantly and everywhere. But in Zhejiang as a result of these works appeared not only a new industrial facility, but also a new and very interesting attraction in China.
Because of the dam an area of 570 km², where previously there was 1377 villages inhabited by 290,000 people, went under water. The resulting lake is called Qiandaohu. Completely flooded but it did not stay long: over time, the water began to settle, revealing the small in size and completely different forms of islets.
Year by year the number of such unusual land increased, and now the pond is called a lake of a Thousand Islands that is not entirely accurate.
